Eno-gastronomic Walk
(3th–10th September 2005)

SeptemberZOOM is the time of year when juicy black grapes hang heavily from the vines, and the harvesting begins, with family and friends working amiably side by side, chatting happily about past vintages and local gossip.

This week we make you part of this life, introducing you to the world of wine-making by walking to both a large vineyard in the well famous Brunello wine country of Montalcino and also a small family run farm which makes the Orcia DOC wine. You will be given the opportunity of working side by side with the locals, collecting and pressing the grapes as well as lunching with them and sampling the results of past harvests.

An experienced enologist will share his experience and show you how to taste and appreciate wines to the full and you will also walk to one of the most beautiful wineries in the world to taste another of Italy's top class wines, the Nobile of Montepulciano.

On our eno-gastronomic week you will be taken to a local restaurant where the chef will assist you in making a typical Tuscan meal which you will then sit down and enjoy!

There will also be a memorable visit to a traditional coppersmith where he will enthusiastically demonstrate his skills in the making of heavy copper cooking pots, passed down to him through generations.

Finally, though not on a culinary theme, there will also be the chance of relaxing in one of the many thermal spas in the area.

The walking itineraries during this week are never longer than 10km a day but are generally over hilly terrain and a certain level of fitness is required.

Accommodation is provided in comfortable apartments at the beautifully situated farmhouse La Selvella, only 4km from Radicofani and with breathtaking views over the Val d'Orcia and Monte Amiata.
